I’m interested in the forms and functions of identity and how they manifest in the outside world. We each maintain power through the construction of our public selves. We display certain parts of our identities, while strategically keeping others private.

We see ourselves reflected in others, which may be either unsettling or familiar.. We have complex relationships with the different elements that make up our identities. These elements may conflict with societal messages and influence what will be exposed and what will be hidden.

There are violent or sexual associations that exist with certain objects or images. What do these things mean when stripped of the associations we assign to them? Can one remain without the other? Can sexuality be a source of power and also survive in an intellectual space?
