Leena Muley

.
Leena Muley creates contemporary pottery in Brooklyn, New York. Born in London and raised by a Chinese-Malaysian mother and Indian-Kenyan father, this fashion designer turned ceramicist hand-builds and wheel-throws each collection in small batches and infuses her work with multicultural influences, blending a love of clean lines, geometric shapes and bold color with what she describes as the "natural distortions of something that is handmade"—the meeting point of control and abandon. A burgeoning cheese aficionado (just ask about her annual Cheesegiving extravaganza), Leena prides herself on performing one-handed cartwheels, correctly identifying Star Trek alien species and always stocking mugs large enough for her mum to enjoy a good cuppa tea.
